I read a lot.

As an editor on 5 publications, I get through scores of pieces each week. There has been an article that has stayed with me, haunting me for almost two months now.

‘Not All Men But Here’s Ten’ by …. Jemima Rose

Was it the catchy title that stuck in my brain like a piece of food in my teeth, as my thoughts worried at it, unable to dislodge it, invisible in the bathroom mirror but insistent nonetheless?

Maybe it was the stark and uncomfortable truth of the piece. The fact that (and I think it really is a fact) the majority of women can quite easily think of 10 different moments in their lives when their boundaries where ignored, when they were made to feel vulnerable, or scared, or even violated, by men.

I want to avoid that truth. I want to sink back into my trashy romance fiction, and numb myself from the harshness that can be the daily news. But this isn’t kept to the ever updating feed on…
