For this month’s interview in the ‘Women In The Spotlight’ series, I am introducing you to one of Medium’s favourite personal essay writers, .
Kasey’s words flow with an ease that makes the world around you disappear in seconds. Warm, relatable and yet never shying away from the less ‘pretty’ side of womanhood post divorce, in your 50’s and navigating our society. For me, reading her work, is like having a conversation with a part of myself and it’s time I treasure.
How would you describe your writing here on Medium in terms of style, genre and the kinds of topics you cover?
I write from the heart about personal experiences and don’t shy away from difficult topics. I wasn’t much of a writer until my affair and subsequent divorce. Those experiences cracked me open and all the pain I’d stuffed for years poured out of me through words on a page. In notebook after notebook, I scribbled down the mess of complicated feelings stewing inside me to help process the why behind all that happened.
