Soft Girl Bitterness: How to Get Bitter and Better
There’s a place for everything, including bitterness
Bitter women have been villainized as some of the most useless, vile, and vindictive beings on the planet for quite some time.
I’ve always wondered why.
Indeed, behind every villain is an epic origin story that usually enables onlookers to at least show a grain of empathy to even the most egregious characters.
Well, unless those people are real-life women. In those instances, we’re supposed to collectively shun and ostracize these demons until they’re exorcised, and forgive everyone who victimized them, no matter how their psyche is damaged in the process.
But, what if I told you there’s a way to get both bitter and better? — That bitterness can actually be a healthy response to abuse and an important step in the healing process?
The Myth of Pretty Healing
No matter what hell we go through, women, especially Black women, are expected to handle it with the grace of an angel. Thus, we are often gaslit into “resting in our femininity” during the times we should be battling and slaying the demons of the past.
