As human beings, we have an incredible power that enables us to think, reason, imagine, and create which is the power of our mind. It can ultimately shape our thoughts, feelings, and actions that affect our life. Our minds can generate new ideas, enhance creativity, and solve complex problems. But if stress and anxiety always surrounded your mind then you are unable to do all these things. All these are the symptoms when your mind state is low.

Then what to do in such a situation? Don’t worry! The solution to your problem is Meditation. Meditation is not just a process. Meditation has the power to concentrate your mind. It is the practice to train your mind to focus and quiet the noise around you. The process of Meditation: Breathe In, Breathe Out. Deep Thinking, Slow Process. Calm Mind, Ease Things. Smile Heart, Release Anxiety. Meditation means taking your mind out of the trap of thoughts and concentrating is called Meditation.

Meditation relaxes you in a stressful lifestyle. Wherever our senses get lethargic then Meditation is the only way to enhance our consciousness. Research shows that individuals who practice Meditation daily have strong mindsets and are more likely to achieve their goals and experience better health outcomes.

Brief History

Some people think that Meditation is related to Mahatma Buddha, but the truth is Meditation has been started in our country even before that. Meditation is mentioned in Vedas before 1500 B.C. so it is certain that the history of Meditation is related to India. Buddhism has played a vital role in its propagation. Apart from India, Meditation has become popular in Western Countries also.

How Meditation and Self-Help Changed My Life

I Spend All My Nights Crying

When I was combating Mental Health issues, I spent all my nights into cries. I didn’t know what to do. Why is my happiness lost? Why am I not able to concentrate on myself? Why is this happening to me? Why? Why?

I often used to ask these questions to the Almighty and wondered why I am alive. Why was I born? I was just living a machinery life. I never liked myself. Whenever I used to see the mirror, I just angered at myself. And because of all these happenings to me, I used to live in depression. Doesn’t feel like talking to anyone, doesn’t feel like eating. Days and Nights were just passing by. I didn’t think that I would ever be able to come out of depression.

Things Changed for Me

But they say that time doesn’t always remain the same, it keeps on changing from moment to moment and the same thing happened to me. While scrolling YouTube cluelessly then a video grabbed my attention. It was a video of a Yoga and Meditation Trainer. She was talking about her depression. How did she combat such issues? How did she feel immense pleasure while doing Meditation? Her enlightened video gave me hope. At the same time, my sister also came to visit me. She then advised me to read a self-help book named The Secret — The Power and a mindfulness book named Practicing Mindfulness and said, whenever you’ve time read this.

I started to read those books and started to watch the Yoga trainer’s video and voila! All worked for me as a healer. Now I’m completely out of that state in which I was some time ago.

I just ask myself, Hey! Are you the same girl who used to sob endlessly the whole night? Because now, that weakling has turned into a jolly girl. So, if I can change my perception, you can too. You just need to do some things — little things which look tiny but have a great impact on your life so that your life can be positive.

My Learnings

  1. It is ok to make mistakes for the first time

When I started practicing both Yoga and Meditation, I used to do many mistakes and open my eyes again and again while doing Meditation. While meditating, various thoughts used to come into my mind and it is also natural because you are not able to focus on starting anything for the first time, this is a normal thing, do not let this thing come to your mind. Make mistakes, learn from them, and move forward.

2. Embrace yourself the way you are

First of all, stop blaming yourself for whatever is happening to you. I think the biggest problem with most women is blaming themselves for everything wrong. Because the so-called society has put this burden on women that they have to take care of their kids and family. This burden is sometimes so terrible that if women are unable to live up to everyone’s expectations, then they become victims of depression. Don’t try to be a Superwoman, you are a human being, not a robot, who works tirelessly. Accept yourself as you are, then see how much happier life will be and you won’t have to bear unnecessary burdens on your shoulders.

3. Step out of your comfort zone and embrace the world

Meditation has taught me how to step out of my comfort zone and deal with the outer world. I traveled to a different city and enjoyed happy moments. I was the person who couldn’t go anywhere without family but now, I am a person who can go anywhere without anyone. All thanks to Meditation who taught me to trust myself.

4. Reduction of Stress

My stress level started reducing gradually with daily practice. I saw myself turning into a calmer person, whose mind used to be filled with negativity some couple of months ago. I started being happy and started adoring myself.

5. Boosting Creativity

Reading novels has always fascinated me and due to this habit, I did not know when writing gave birth to a writer in me. But depression killed the writer in me. I didn’t feel like doing anything, even writing — which was my lifeline, which was my devotion. But after practicing Meditation, creativity was born in me again and I became a better version of myself. My creative thinking improved, and I started to write again.

Tips For a Successful Meditation

  • You should not practice in one go. Start with a few minutes so that you can gradually use to it and after that, you can increase your timing.
  • Consistency is essential to do any work and the same applies to Meditation. You did it one day, another day you left it, you can never meditate like this.
  • While practicing Meditation you must be patient as in a day you can’t get results. Meditation practice takes time.
  • Desire, anger, noise, sleepiness, doubts, irritation, etc. are some common obstacles in Meditation that you need to overcome, and which can be defeated only by daily practice.
  • You won’t get results in one day, so drop this idea as soon as possible. Don’t Put Pressure on yourself to obtain results.
  • Practice Mindfulness whenever you want to spend some quality time with yourself.

The Bottom Line

The age-old tradition which we had forgotten for some time, today it has become a part of our daily life. In today’s run-of-the-mill life, everyone is combating physical and mental health issues, so to overcome this problem they resort to Meditation. Meditation is necessary to live a happy and prosperous life so we can spend more time with our family and do well at the workplace.

I practice Meditation daily. I want you also practice it. Take out some time for Meditation because it gives immense pleasure, and you feel light and energetic. And when you feel happy within, then you make the environment around you happy as well and all this happens only because of Meditation. That’s the power of Meditation! You must try.
