What Mothers Wish We Received More Recognition For
We just want the recognition and maybe even the appreciation that although we’re not necessarily doing everything, we’re still doing our best
After becoming a Mom, I didn’t realize how much it would change the core foundation of who I am as a person. Yes, the bedrock of my identity still remains in tact — I still uphold the same values, enjoy a lot of the same hobbies, like the same music, and generally do a lot of the same things I did before having a child. The only difference now is that I have significantly less time for most of those pre-baby things because they often get heavily de-prioritized.
In the first few early months of Motherhood, I quickly came to learn that multi-tasking, creating to-do lists, meal prepping, and keeping a watchful eye on my weekly calendar would become integral towards my success and sanity as a functioning human being. Between the responsibilities at home and work, time was a precious concept to cling to — it was constantly fleeting.
In the little spare time I do have outside of work, parenting, household chores, and dare I say hobbies, I tend to find myself mindlessly scroll through the social media universe that exists in my phone in order to detach from reality. In that time, a…
