Why Do Married Women Appear the Same?
Before the weight of expectations — strong, confident, and unapologetically herself
I used to wonder why so many women looked the same — tired, weary, eyes heavy with something unspoken. Their energy dulled, their laughter quieter, their presence somehow smaller than it once was. It was as if the vibrant, ambitious, fearless women I once knew had disappeared, leaving behind echoes of who they used to be.
And then, I caught my own reflection.
Mother’s Day is around the corner. A day of celebration, of appreciation. But I can’t help but wonder: how many mothers are truly celebrated in a way that restores them? How many are given more than a temporary acknowledgment before they return to the exhaustion, the expectation, the quiet resignation?
There’s something I’ve noticed, something unsettling. Married women — especially those deep into the trenches of domesticity — start to look the same. Not in the way they dress or style their hair, but in their eyes, in their energy.
The Transformation: From Fearless to Faded
I think back to when women — myself included — were single. There was a fire then. A boldness. A sense that the world was meant to be taken, explored, conquered…
