Yearning
A poem

Yearning inflicts the deepest wounds
Upon my delicate soul,
Mourning for elusive fantasies,
That never take their toll.
Yearning fans the flames of desire,
For what can’t and won’t be,
Only in my mind’s theater, the dream plays,
Reality paints a different sea.
Fuelled by 4am thoughts,
That pervade my day’s array,
Yearning may well be my downfall,
Haunted by dreams that stray.
