Anticipating guest wishes

Madrid has recently seen an exciting project presented at the Fitur tourism fair. A luxury room prototype, equipped with AI. The hotel of the future will have sensors and cameras everywhere, collecting data about the guest and analyzing his behaviour and suggesting more personalized, relevant offers.

The technology will allow hotel employees to anticipate exactly what guests may need before the guest even figures out what they want. It means knowing when to serve coffee — thanks to sensors under the mattress signalling the staff that the guest got up. The AI algorithm even considers various cuisine preferences. For example, in anticipation of a large group of tourists from England, it can notify the hotel restaurant to order an additional batch of bacon in advance.

The project of a futuristic hotel was created in Spain, at the Institute of hotel technologies in cooperation with a French company Altran specializing in automating traditional industries. The hotel will have a tracking beacon that will monitor guests’ smartphones location — something several European countries have banned. It also has a voice assistant system capable of recognizing multiple languages.
