Britain Prepares To Move COVID-19 Patients To Hotels
Matt Hancock, the Health Secretary of Great Britain said it is a possible back-up plan that some COVID-19 patients will be transferred to hotels to free up hospital beds.
CNN reports:
“This obviously would be a further backup plan… We consider all the options,” Matt Hancock told the BBC.
He said this is a response to the growing pressure on the NHS due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.
When asked about which patients will be eligible to be sent to hotels, the Secretary said that any measures to move patients to hotels to free up bed capacity would only be done if it was appropriate, for “step-down” patients only.
