What is our vision?

I didn’t know what to write about, so I chose the thing that I like to think about the most with Modus. Some of you will probably think that’s obvious, but I also didn’t know how to start this post.

So, what is mine and Tom’s vision for Modus? It’s simple really: Create a tool that helps students study.

“Wow guys, haven’t heard of that one before!”

We like to think we’ve put a twist on it. What if you could create a tool that sits with a student as they complete an entire study session? What if that tool also organised/created their study sessions for them? On top of that, what if it also knew their entire schedule and could curate those sessions to align with deadlines, current level of understanding of the topic, and exam/test dates; priming their brain for them?

You’re probably thinking something along the lines of “Yeah, this is cool and all, but I’ve seen your site. You just have summary features. You and 15 other sites when I type it into Google.”

Yes, we know. But we’ve got to start somewhere. I talked to Tom before I wrote this, as I was sceptical.

“What if I just give our whole plan away that we’ve been working on?” — Me

“Just keep it vague.” — Tom

“But that doesn’t make for good content.” — Me

“Well then post it.” — Tom

“But..” — Me

“We’ll just have to build quicker than everyone else.” — Tom

And that’s that. We’re just going to have to build faster and better than everyone else. Hard, but achievable.

As I write this, our site is currently undergoing a complete FE redesign. After this, we’re going to improve our Text/PDF Summary features to the highest quality, and then add in more features.

Our vision is to create tools that completely follow the flow of a study session, allowing students to fully optimise their learning. Not just some flashcards, some tutorial videos, or some writing enhancement tool. No. A completely fleshed out site that is tailored specifically to each of our users’ individual ability and knowledge. It will adapt based off previous user inputs and continue to enhance their experience based off their activities. However, the ‘final product’ of this is a while off, so in the meantime, we’re going to keep on creating these features.

P.S. I know. I didn’t even go into detail.
