Better Together Challenge

This is an initiative that is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and done in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) through USAID’s Catalyst Project. The proposal will support innovative solutions to tackle the problems faced by Venezuelans and host communities affected by this regional crisis.

The project focuses on four main areas: people, productivity, services, and finance. It will finance innovative solutions set in four stages of maturity: ideas, prototype, validation, and scalability.

A meeting was held with Luis Matheus on the possibility of working with Venezuelan refugees in partnership with UNHCR and other UN agencies. We are currently preparing a proposal to participate in this contest.

Credit and Account provision to self-employed entrepreneurs

The team held several meetings with a partner who interested in microcredit to support door-to-door sales. We have created more than 200 Moeda accounts so far.

LIFT TALKS 2020

On February 19, Moeda participated in the LIFT Talks program at the Brazilian Central Bank. The Financial and Technology Innovation Laboratory (LIFT, in Portuguese) is a joint initiative of the Brazilian Central Bank and Fenasbac Institute. The program was conceived as a sectorial sandbox and aims to promote technological innovation in financial activities to reduce the cost of credit, enhance the efficiency of the National Financial System (SFN) and promote financial citizenship.

Innovate to Change Contest Finalists

The team selected the contest finalists and held a meeting with the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture to validate the final result. Another meeting was scheduled with the Contest Coordination Committee to approve the final result and award honorable mentions.

Among some ongoing actions, we can mention the 2nd cycle of the Artesaniaas Project, the publication of the partnership agreement — which will come out soon — with the City of Fortaleza for the project “Meu Bairro Empreendedor” and the discussion of some strategies with the Secretariat of Economic Development and Labour for businesses that work with crypto assets and a pilot project with the BNDES. Finally, the Smart Beach project (Ecoponto Cumbuco) is doing great. The partnership has already collected more than 4 tons of waste and an average of 64 participants that received a bonus.

Technology

Here is a summary of some tasks related to technology.

1. Moeda App

We have focused a lot on the quality of the App. We have updated and incorporated several features to the Moeda App. In addition to the updates, we found better ways to make it more stable and bring agility to its integrations and evolutions.

Creation of a schema in the Moeda Wallet’s structure to make specific user groups available at particular rates.

We have created a new service that makes it possible to set consistently and systemically concerning other applications a list of different users on both frontend and backend.

2.2. Moeda Platform: New features

2.2.1. Payment using bank payment slips (barcode invoices)

It is now possible to pay barcode invoices (boletos, in Portuguese) using your Moeda wallet and the balance of your Moeda card/account.

2.2.2. Mobile Phone Recharge feature

2.2.3. Change in the button menu — we’ve added the scroll feature for greater responsiveness

2.2.4. Moeda Backoffice — Adjustment in the way searches were being made (mask)

We have adjusted the formatting requested for searches in the back office, including searches without first capital letters and so on.

3. Moeda Marketplace

(status: prod)

After a team meeting, we identified some tasks that need to be carried out to move forward with the Marketplace at the market level — they’re all available technically speaking inside Jira. We have already concluded:

1. Loggi and Brazilian Postal Service APIs;

2. Tests with production credentials for Brazilian Postal Service and Loggi services; and

3. Integration of email / SMS service, which is a notification sent to the supplier when an order is placed and that Loggi / Brazilian Postal Service had to cancel.

4. Moeda Tax Return Statement

(status: dev)

The team has moved forward on two development fronts. The first one is the development of a PDF export button and the modeling of a report design. We have also worked quite a lot on the technical development of this feature, as well as on the first version of the statement design.

5. Checks and updates on the platform

The following tasks were performed:

MoedaPay — payment splits (Stellar update)
Moeda Platform — black screen in Moeda Wallet: update of the browser version
Moeda Platform — Check login Ops: password update without capital letters.

Communications

The communications team has been working on a series of tutorial videos to facilitate the process of creating accounts at Moeda and the use of all the app features.

In addition, we are working on some materials related to our last visits to the State of Pará and to Horta da Terra (“Vegetable Garden”) and 3Agro projects.
