  • Michelle Kwong on Board Michelle will join Moeda as an independent board member. Michelle is a financial service professional with over 17 years experience in capital market at Goldman Sachs, NYSE, Morgan Stanley, and Credit Suisse. Michelle was the first Asian female managing director at New York Stock Exchange. Official announcement will be coming out.
  • CEO Taynaah’s Interview with Bank Innovation Taynaah had a phone interview with Grace Nato from Bank Innovation, an e-newsletter and a news site with more than 650,000 unique monthly visitors. Article will go live soon.
  • MDA trading on Allcoin Live trading on Allcoin has been open since 11/8 with MDA/BTC and MDA/ETH pairs. Allcoin is a global digital asset platform operated by Cascadaia Fintech Corp, which is incorporated in Vancouver Canada. It has been listed on Canadian Security Exchange (Stock code “CK”) since 12th September, 2013. Allcoin.com officially released the digital asset trading platform in April 2016 and at the same time it has been registered with FINTRC (Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre) of Canadian government as MSB (Money Service Business). Allcoin is audited by Manning Elliot LLP and have Dentons provide legal consultancy. Allcoin strictly abides by the Law of Canada and under the supervision of Canadian Financial Regulatory authorities.

Events/Conferences

  • COP23 (11/5–11/7) Taynaah and Ari presented at the COP23 Fiji pavilion on Building the Grand Coalition for Climate Action with Youth, Music & Resource, which provides young people an opportunity to communicate their visions of a sustainable world and for building bridges between the hearts and the minds in support of bold climate action. Taynaah and Ari also presented at GloCha event “advanced information and communication technology solutions (with a focus on blockchain technology)”. Moeda, featured as a crypto credit union for sustainable development, presented blockchain-based technological solutions for peer-to-peer funding of artists and young social entrepreneurs which in the future shall provide support and funding for a wide range of sustainable development related artistic expression and Agenda2030 related entrepreneurship. Ari presented at the Nordic Pavilion on engage youth and bring in technology to solve sustainable problems at Youth Empowerment.
  • The Graduate Institute of Geneva (11/9 -11/11) CEO Taynaah hosted a workshop “How might we use impact investing to finance the SDGs?” for top decision makers from the UN, Impact Invest Funds, and Swiss Bankers at the Graduate Institute in Geneva, Switzerland. She received amazing feedback from academics on our business model and pioneer structure. During the workshop Philippe Rudaz, Economic Affairs Officer of UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) indicated a strong desire to collaborate with us for further partnership.
  • Humanitarian Blockchain Summit in Fordham University, NYC (11/10) Brad moderated Panel on Public Sector: Potential and challenges of blockchain for the SDGs. The panel aims to provide a multifaceted view over the potential and challenges of adopting, designing, and implementing blockchain solutions in the public sector. Panelists including Elizabeth Olsen from Innovation Norway, Ben Siegel from Consensys, John Mercurio from Bitfury, and Aishwarya Balaji from Impact Chain lab are each experienced in innovation and emerging technology adoption in the public sphere.

Product

Technical MVP

  • The development team kicked off Sprint 2 this week and focused on building out the existing user flow, laying the groundwork for the self-sovereign identity system, and creating the project listing system. The SSID work included integrated the Mooti ID components into the application. The team wrapped up the week by starting development on the user’s initial profile set-up.
  • Planned requirements and critical questions related to banking system integration.
  • Milkshake Studio will work on Moeda website and brand redesign, as well as UX/UI for the MVP.

Operations

  • Marcio Oliveira Silva, a Brazilian UX researcher and behavioral biologist and faculty member at one of the world’s top 5 design schools — Parsons School of Design — joined Moeda. Marcio will travel to Brazil and do in-depth on-the-ground user and stakeholder research, usability and desirability testing for the MVP, and provide coaching and mentoring services on product management and UX research to the Moeda Brazil team.

  • CEO Taynaah Reis will speak at ICA (International Co-operative Alliance) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (13–17 November 2017) http://www.malaysia2017.coop/ Taynaah will be on the panel “Who Owns the Robots?” and representing Brazil and the future of technology on the global cooperative system. Ambassador for Change Program and Selected Seed Projects will be announced at the conference.
