Updates on the progress made by our teams over the last weeks are detailed below.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Moeda team members are working from home but we keep on making great things happen. We continue developing projects that have already been launched and receive your support — such as the 5 O’Coffee and the Baru Beer — and we are working on new ones that are about to be launched.

Here are our latest updates:

MOEDA PAY APP

We have recently updated our Moeda app and a brand new app will be released soon. Important tweaks have been made to it and our customers will find it much easier to access their accounts.

MOEDA PAY SITE

We will very soon launch a new website too. After conducting a lot of research and analysis with our current customers, we have decided to redesign all our communication strategies.

Investors will also have a much clearer and more informative website, facilitating the process of supporting our projects.

Moeda’s ESG Blockchain Product Report

We are very happy to share the progress we made concerning Moeda’s ESG Blockchain Product Report.

We will launch the report soon and provide further details to buyers about the products/services we offer — all done in a transparent way.

SOMOS UM | Bom viver Project

We have recently mentioned the Somos Um project on our communication channels.

However, we have summarised what this partnership is about for those of you who don’ t know about it:

Somos Um project (We are One, in English) is part of a journey Ticiana Rolim set out some years ago when she wrote down her dreams in a notebook and, fortunately, she has been fulfilling most of them.

The initiative is a business model that promotes social impact. Its purpose is to solve social problems, and not just maximize profits.

This is how they define themselves: “We are people who offer our gifts and talents to the service of love and, ultimately, transform the world into a better place.”

And they’ve done it! Moeda is honored to have joined forces with them on this wonderful venture.

One of the projects that Moeda supports is the Bom Viver Renovation of Housing, which recently won a Social Hackton promoted by the Somos Um Project at the end of 2019.

The project promotes housing renovation work for the inhabitants of Bom Jardim neighborhood. Moeda has been providing access to microcredit for these clients and we recently interviewed Darlúcia Rabelo about a recent renovation work that was done in her house.

Darlúcia’s house had some bad water infiltration because the house was built on a riverbank.

The team applied a mold-resistant paint to solve this issue in the best possible way and did some waterproofing work to create a seal to prevent the water to infiltrate again and soak wet the walls of her house.

Darlúcia is an attendant in a psychiatry and psychology clinic and because of the pandemic, she was forced to work from home. Having a well-kept and renovated place made all the difference for her.

In order to get her house renovated, she needed to have access to Moeda’s microcredit program. We are truly happy to have provided this kind of support to her and also learn that this renovation work has already produced some great results in her life.

“I enjoyed it very much. I had never had access to this low amount of credit that could be paid in many installments with such tiny interest rates. In the end, I managed to do what I really wanted to. It was great. I managed to renovate two parts of my house ready and I loved the result. If I had to save money to spend on that, it would never happen because of the money we make we have to spend on essential things. So I borrowed all that money and paid in installments, and it was perfect and easy for me to pay back. I really enjoyed being the first person to benefit from this partnership: Moeda, Bom Viver, and Somos Um”.

This story goes beyond the financial aspect: it’s also about the health of this family, which was facing some respiratory problems before this renovation work was done. Ton, one of the partners of Bom Viver Renovation of Housing Project, also shared his views on this issue:

“The impact of these renovation works on people’s lives is very clear: all you have to do is look at the picture before the works were done and the picture after we finished it. What’s more, try breathing inside the room now and you will see the difference in the quality of the air. It’s quite evident,” said Ton.

This project won the heart of the jury and Moeda at the Hackton for this reason: renovating people’s homes is about bringing them comfort, well being, and good health.

It’s especially nice to be part of this story.

Below are the photos before the renovation work:

COVID-19 IMPACT ACTION

The very first campaign to use cryptocurrency and blockchain’s transparency for emergency donations launched a new website during a live broadcasting session.

The Covid-19 IMPACT ACTION campaign enters a new fundraising moment. Created as an emergency action on March 21 to bring basic food parcels and hygiene kits to communities in Rio de Janeiro, the campaign grew and in just 12 weeks raised resources to feed and protect 76,751 people in 34 socially vulnerable locations in 5 municipalities in Rio de Janeiro and 2 indigenous villages, 1 in Pernambuco.

In partnership with Moeda Seeds, the initiative offers donors the option to make traditional donations, but also do that using cryptocurrencies and the innovation and transparency provided by blockchain technology to support NGOs and vulnerable families.

This is a means that allows donors to keep track of the entire process of their donations, from the moment the money leaves their account to the moment it reaches the recipients.

“We are prepared to grow with solid foundations. NGOs in Brazil and around the world, despite doing an incredible job, have great difficulty in attracting more demanding donors, usually, those with the greatest donation power, because they cannot have the structure to show clearly where the donated resources go, as well as the impacts generated, which is exactly what donors need. And we are doing this in a network, using blockchain and looking straight in the eye of all stakeholders,” says Camila Soares, founder of IMPACTO.

D’Or Research and Learning Institute, União Rio e Rio Contra Corona Movement, Move Rio, L’Òreal, and LATAM Cargo are among the institutional, logistic, and strategic partners of IMPACTO Covid-19 Action. To make your donation just visit: http://impactocovid.org/?lang=en

Materializing the Projects in the Amazon region

3Agro

Another partner of the journey Currency: 3 Agro. We are making important advances to soon put on the market a new product of the açaí chain, a fruit that has been the focus of important discussions in Brazil and the world today for its nutritional value, commercial and environmental potential.

The 3Agro business is responsible for managing of Amazon forest assets.

The actions carried out by this initiative need to collaborate in some way with the development of forest production chains in the Amazon. They invest in planting forests with native Amazon species, marketing, and providing services related to the forest assets of the areas and communities involved. At this moment, the focus of the company is the açaí berries — one of the most powerful superfruits which have an incredibly high amount of antioxidants.

We conclude this weekly ship with a quote from our CEO Taynaah Reis:

“My life experience with family farming allows me to see a beautiful moment: the women of the countryside are becoming more empowered every day and stronger to fight for better living conditions for them and their families. They are increasingly engaged in social struggles and their voices are finally beginning to echo! We are listening to you, daring women. You can rest assured.”
