#MoedaSeeders;

It is a great pleasure to share with you our latest news. We worked on some great things last week, so let’s go!

MoedaPay

We are proud to announce that we launched last week the new version of MoedaPay for the Brazilian audience. The site is currently being translated into English and it will be published next week.

In parallel to the launch of MoedaPay, we created an action for new Brazilian users, and it is called “Impact CASHBACK”.

MoedaPay is the first humanized digital account — let us tell you what we mean by that. All financial transactions make an impact on socio-environmental projects that promote gender equality and poverty alleviation and both, directly and indirectly, influence the lives of local residents, families and communities. The difference is that all the people who belong to the Moeda Seeds’ environment have names and stories and all users can follow the development and evolution that the use of MoedaPay creates in partnership with these actions.
Therefore, a significant part of the population that historically has not been given access to banking services is now included in processes and actively participates in them, benefiting from easy access to credit, financial empowerment and integration policies.

Soon we will make cashback actions available to our international supporters.

RARE/ Moeda Partnership

Rare company inspires changes so that people and nature can thrive. We are proud to announce this new partnership that has this synergy of values.

Rare’s approach includes:
(1) Identifying human behaviours that threaten biodiversities, such as overfishing, illegal logging or unsustainable agricultural practices;
(2) Seeking innovative solutions based on community actions that facilitate the adoption of new practices to reduce the threats that affect conservation;
(3) Launch Pride Campaigns to increase local support for the adoption of effective conservation solutions.

“Our source of income comes from the waters of the sea and rivers.
I feel privileged. I am proud to be a fisherman.
My life is about fishing. I don’t trade fishing for anything else.
I’m free — I work and I fish when I want to.
I’m taking life slowly, just like the way God tells me to do.

Jerry Araújo Gaspar, fisherman from the Delta do Parnaíba Extractive Reserve.

Below are some initial activities that are currently in progress:

🐟 Fishermen’s online registration — MoedaPay account and to issue the portfolio of fishermen involved in the project. This portfolio will have a QR code to keep track of the fish production chain;
🐟 Development of communication materials to support the Paneiro do Mangal and Encurtando Elos projects;
🐟 Design of a financial education booklet.

SUMÁ / Moeda Partnership

Sumá provides training for family farmers, supports their development, and helps them meet the requirements of regular food buyers. Besides, it gives real field information so that the buyer can improve their menus according to local production plans and also use seasonal products.

The entire Moeda team is deeply grateful for all the progress we made in this partnership, and we are looking forward to the next steps, which are:

🌱 Meeting to train Sumá’s team to open Moeda accounts;
🌱 Opening accounts of some partnering cooperatives;
🌱 Expansion of suppliers — with Moeda’s support — considering that all transactions will happen through the Moeda’s accounts of new trading partners.

Blockforce / Moeda

Blockforce is a Blockchain Research and Development organization, which offers consultancy and digital products based on blockchain, with a focus on promoting social innovation.

Blockforce & Alliance for Prosperity

Founded by Celo, the Alliance for Prosperity seeks to build a financial universe that creates conditions of prosperity for all. Since July 2020, Blockforce has been a member of the Alliance and is among the first four initiatives to run a Protocol Celo node in Brazil.

We are very proud of André Salem, Blockforce’s founder, co-founder Taynaah Reis, and every team member that works day and night to make these things possible.

We are also happy to share with you that Moeda Seeds is part of the working group “Financial Instruments and Impact Investments” of the Laboratory of Financial Innovation (LAB).

The Laboratory of Financial Innovation (LAB) is a multi-sector interaction forum, created by the Brazilian Development Association (ABDE), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), which, in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), brings together representatives of the Brazilian government and civil society to promote sustainable finance in the country. The objective is to create innovative financing solutions to leverage private resources for projects with social and/or environmental benefits and contribute to the achievement of Brazilian goals associated with the Sustainable Development Goals — ODS (Agenda 2030) and commitments to address climate change risks (Paris Agreement). Topics such as insurance and guarantees, green bonds, ODS bonds, social impact assessment, investment crowdfunding, solidarity revolving funds, philanthropy venture, fintechs, social and environmental risk management and many others are on the Lab’s agenda. Launched in August 2017, the LAB operates through intersectoral dialogue organized in Working Groups (WG).

The Working Group on Financial Instruments and Impact Investments aims to contribute to the creation of alternative financial instruments to finance investments with social impact. This Working Group works with two main axes: focus on social impact and better understanding financing solutions for local projects, which makes its composition concentrated in development banks and state development agencies, among other players. Topics such as Investment Crowdfunding, Solidary Revolving Funds, Social Impact Contracts, Impact Evaluation Metrics, Venture Philanthropy and ODS Titles are part of the Working Group’s agenda.
