Host Spotlight: Isabella Morrison
New Orleans, Louisiana
Isabella Morrison is the Program Coordinator at Dear World’s College Division. Dear World is an interactive, award-winning portrait project that explores the subtle and powerful connections between students, faculty and staff.
In her own words:
I wanted to become a MHWOW Host but it was an opportunity to continue building the community that started blooming at Moishe House. Living in Moishe House for two years provided the tools and resources to strengthen and build a community in New Orleans and now MHWOW allows more flexibility and time to plan more intentional events without the pressure of hitting a required number of events.
I am most proud of hosting an event that helped families clean up and rebuild their homes after they were destroyed from flooding in Baton Rouge. This natural disaster left thousands homeless and hopeless. When we arrived in Baton Rouge, everyone was so welcoming and appreciative and we felt like we really made a difference and MHWOW helped create that experience.
I am also proud of hosting an event that intertwines cultures. Recently, I hosted an event where a Jewish Brazilian chef came over to host a cooking class. We discussed the similarities and differences of growing up Jewish in different parts of the world.
MHWOW continues to foster opportunities that bring together groups of people, alike and different, to make deeper connections.
