Actions Preferences to Know

Because Actions is meant to be a personal productivity tool, we wanted to allow it to be customized extensively to an individual’s use case. In the Preferences section of Menu, we’ve provided a variety of options for you to bend Actions to how you’d like to work.

Let’s take a look at some Actions preferences to know.

Day/Night Mode

When you’re up late at night, working on your iPhone or iPad can put a strain on your eyes. To combat this, we’ve implemented Night Mode into Actions, which inverts the app’s dark and light elements to create a darker interface.

The quickest way to access Night Mode is by opening Menu and tapping the Night Mode icon at the bottom right of the screen. This will toggle Day and Night Mode manually, an action you’ll have to complete again for the interface to change.

In the “General” preference in Menu, you can set Night Mode to “Auto,” which will automatically switch between Day and Night Mode based on the time. Once enabled, you shouldn’t need to toggle Day/Night Mode again — Actions will do it for you.

Sync Preferences Between My Devices

If you work with Actions on more device, keeping your preferences synced is crucial for a unified experience. Though this encompasses basic settings like gestures and sounds, it also syncs important features like Night Mode and List color.

When you first download Actions, this feature should be on by default; however, if it’s turned off or you’d like to check, visit the “General” preferences and toggle it on.

Swipe Right to Complete

We all have different preferences when it comes to gestures. To accommodate users’ choices, we built in a way to alter gesture directions for completing, rescheduling, and deleting.

In the “Actions” preferences, the first option is “Swipe right to complete.” Though this only mentions completing tasks, it will actually flip all gestures for Action Cards. Other gestures you perform in Actions, like swiping between sections or creating a Card, will not be affected — only the gestures for Action Cards.

Move Completed Actions to Logbook

Actions that are marked as complete are automatically moved to Logbook immediately, clearing out space in Schedule for more tasks to take their place. However, it can be nice to see what you’ve finished right in Schedule.

Under “Move Completed Actions to Logbook” in the Actions preferences, you can select when you’d like your tasks to transfer over. With “immediately,” “after an hour,” “after a day,” and “never” as options, Schedule can maintain completed tasks for a great point of reference.

App Icon

Though it’s not a functional change like the other preferences in this article, switching the app icon’s color can add a new look to your Home screen or better suit your current theme. If you’d like to try a new color, head on over to the “App Icon” preference and choose from one of 19 colors.

Show Events in Schedule

With memberships to both Actions and our calendar app Timeapge, calendar events will automatically appear in Schedule by default. This is meant to give you additional context to what you have going on in your day, when you have free time, and more.

However, if you’d prefer to keep Actions as simplistic and task-focused as possible, you can toggle this by visiting the Timepage preferences and tapping “Show events on Schedule.”
