Over the course of 2018, we’ve been so thankful for all of the support and feedback from our users about Actions. We’ve been hard at work continuing the development process on Actions, and we’re excited to announce one of its biggest updates thus far: version 1.4!

Let’s get the basics out of the way first: Actions is now updated for the latest and greatest iPhone and iPad models, including the 11” and 12.9” iPad Pros. Like Timepage, Actions takes advantage of the new edge-to-edge displays to present as much content as possible and help you get your work done.

We’ve also added some significant polish to this release, which translates into faster load times and better performance. We appreciate all of the users who have let us know the issues they experienced so we could clean up any relevant problems.

And now, for the big stuff…

Add Actions Faster

One of the most common things we heard from customers was that adding all the details for an Action Card was a tedious workflow. In version 1.4, we took another look at the process and came up with something that makes much more sense.

When you begin to add an Action Card, you’ll now see three buttons beneath it, providing a quick way to schedule a date, choose a list, and set reminders. Previously, all of this information was chosen separately after you created the Action Card; now, it can be done directly from the addition screen. And by tapping “Enter” or “Next” on your keyboard, you can continue to add Action Cards and configure their information. Actions still supports natural language processing, so you can also add a date to a task just by typing it in the title.

Redesigned Action Card Information

Prior to version 1.4, tapping into an Action Card to find out more information meant sorting through quite a few menus. We’ve rethought this interaction and chosen to bring the most relevant information about an Action Card directly to the forefront.

Tap into an Action Card to see its List name, scheduled date, reminders, and notes. Rather than diving into menus to find what’s most important, you can immediately review it right from this screen. Of course, you can still tap on any of these sections to configure them.

New Widget Design And Functionality

You told us that you wanted to be able to interact with Action Cards from the widget. We listened and got it done!

In the new widget, simply tap an Action Card to quickly bring up options for completing, opening, and deleting. Like always, you can add Action Cards via the shortcut in the widget, and both interacting and adding can be done in either the compact or larger widget view.

Wrap-Up

We can’t say enough how thankful we are for your continued support and use of Actions. It’s been wonderful to hear about how it integrates into your lives and we can’t wait to see how you continue to use Actions!

Oh, and one more thing: Actions 1.4 isn’t the last surprise we’ll be bringing you in the following months, so stay tuned. 👀
