This is the final undated poem from my grandmother before I start publishing her diary entries next week. (Unless, of course, I find more poetic gems within the pages of her diaries).

Bright blue sky — streaked with pink and golden clouds engulf the sun as it slides behind the hills. Crickets singing as though tonight was their last time, perhaps anticipating the cold soon to come. The last rays of sunshine give a glow to everything near and lingers softly as the great harvest moon peeps above the horizon in the east. The glimmer of the dew on the leaves and the pale softness of the night leaves a haunting loneliness in the hearts of all who behold.

Next week, as promised, I’ll start with my grandmother’s diary entries. Her diaries that I have span 1958 to 1992, but may not cover every year. As I mentioned before, I will add context where necessary, if I can, to better explain her writings. It should be an interesting ride!
