On Kindness
When did we decide to stop being kind?
I’ve fallen down some social media rabbit holes recently
Nearly all come with unkind comments that, to be honest, shock me
The comments are, for lack of a better word, brutal
Assumptions are made
Captions not read for context
A general air of unkindness that is perpetuated by a lack of visibility behind a computer (or phone) screen
It’s not just on social media
It’s in the air all around us
Customer service inquiries that lack common sense and courtesy
Road rage
Lack of patience when waiting in line
We see it on airplanes and in grocery stores
On sidewalks and in restaurants
A sense of entitlement and a “me first” attitude
Of always being the exemption to the rule
What if we were kind again?
What if we all lived with community values in mind?
What if we were patient, understanding, and helped our neighbors?
Maybe our days could be filled with light and love again
