Tucked away on the border of Boyle Heights and Downtown Los Angeles is Dry River Brewing. Know primarily for their barrel-aged mixed cultured sour beer. What’s makes this location unique is the rustic interior and rare ingredients in the beer.

I asked Lead Brewer Garrett Margolis what are some of the ingredients they use in their beer, “Various tree parts for sure, Bark, Sprigs, the wood itself….for herbs and spices were pretty heavy on different Black Teas, Elderflower, Damiana, Sumac, Bay Leaves. Chuy (Boomtown Brewering) sources all of our Cacao, Vanilla, Chilies and Coffee from various parts of Mexico direct from farm. Pilóncillo is probably my favorite house ingredient that nobody thinks much of. A very pure sugar source with tons of flavor. Would be a cool ingredient to dig a little more into, rarely available w/o corn syrup in the states”.
