This is my final blog in the series of three talking about the need for a Sacred Writing Space. Hopefully you’ve checked out the others. If not, I encourage you do to so now.

With your sacred writing space declared, now’s the time to get serious about putting your stamp on it. Well, maybe not an actual stamp, but hey — whatever floats your boat.

Before we can truly get into the nitty-gritty about personalization, we first need to remove all the crap hanging out that really has no place being there. When we call upon the universe to bring about our intentions — i.e. our best, most authentic lives — we can’t expect it to know how to deliver it when there’s a bunch of shit in the way. I mean, c’mon, even if you want to kiss your kids good night, it’s a helluva a lot harder when the floor from the door to the bed isn’t covered in Legos. Am I right? Let’s streamline it so the universe has no question on how to bring your writing desires to you.

MY TIPS FOR CREATING THE PERFECT WRITING SPACE

Take an afternoon, or a couple of hours at least, going through your new-found space and clearing up any of the crap that:

  • Doesn’t make you happy. This is the golden rule. I don’t care if it cost you thousands of dollars, if it doesn’t make you happy, get rid of it!
  • Needs repair, or replacement. For example, a picture frame that’s cracked, or a burnt out light bulb. If it needs repair or replacement, do it. Not tomorrow, not next week. Right now. If it can’t be accomplished now, get it out of your space, right now.
  • Belongs somewhere else. For instance, papers belonging in a file cabinet or a burn pile. Declutter anything that is impeding your intentions for writing.
  • Needs to be tossed out entirely. (Major “no duh” here, I know, but you’d be surprised how much stuff nearby can visit the bin when you really look at it.)

By removing unwanted and unnecessary clutter, we pave a clear pathway for energies to flow. Tenants of Feng Shui believe by harmonizing the energies in your environment, you can harness the innate power in their flow. I’m inclined to agree.

Once that’s complete, take the time to personalize the space and make it yours. Include inspiration to focus your intentions. (We’ll talk intentions more next week!)

Until next time…
