Have you ever been to that point with someone where they don’t quite anger you, they don’t frustrate you…they don’t piss you off to the point you want to scream and pull your hair out…but something is just wrong — and you know it — and you’re exhausted? That’s the word, precisely, the word is exhausted. We become exhausted with certain kinds of people. We especially tend to become exhausted with people who don’t have our best interest at heart. It’s exhausting having to be skeptical of them all the time, always wondering, “Can I really trust this person when I’m not around?” or, “What’s really their motive for doing what they do?”

We become exhausted with emotional vampires, we become exhausted with people who continually do not meet our expectations, and we become especially exhausted with relationships that aren’t reciprocal.

In my experience, most people so much bothered by non-reciprocal relationships because they might get less materially than they give, it doesn’t matter as much that they’re giving more stuff than their getting, to most people, it’s the intangible things that matter — things like respect, support…
