Mogul: The Life & Death of Chris Lighty (Trailer)

Reggie first told me about this new podcast series over drinks in Montreal while he was in town for our live podcast taping and I recently got an early listen of episode 1.

From what I’ve heard so far, it’s very very very good and extremely well put-together. It’s a documentary put together in audio format with all the regular bells-and-whistles, except it’s made to be listened to on Spotify.

Chris Lighty was a giant in hip-hop. He managed Foxy Brown, Fat Joe, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, 50 Cent — anyone who was anyone worked with Lighty. But in 2012 he was found dead at his home in the Bronx, a death that left the music world reeling. In this podcast miniseries from Gimlet Media and Loud Speakers Network, we tell the story of Chris Lighty, from the first breakbeat to the last heartbeat.

Episode one will be live on Spotify on April 27th. Vulture has more info for your headtop.
