All epiduraled up and ready for action.

Just after midnight on April 28, 2019, my husband and I arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Roughly an hour into labor, I was moaning like a dying cow and begging everyone in my path for drugs. Seriously, I knew having a baby would hurt, but now that I’ve done it, I literally cannot understand how anyone gives birth naturally.

Thankfully, I was in good hands. From triage to postpartum, I was graced with the kindest, most lovely nurses. These ladies put up with me pre-epidural — to say I was not a warrior before drugs is the understatement of the century — and saw parts of my body I hope I never even have to see.

5 Reasons Labor & Delivery and Postpartum Nurses are Amazing

1. They’re Kind, Caring, and Compassionate to Total Strangers

If someone asked you to wait hand and foot on a total stranger, you’d look at them like they were crazy. Add in the fact that the stranger is almost definitely wearing a gown with either no underwear or some form of adult diaper underneath, and you’d probably call the cops.

All this is just another day in the life of a maternity wing. Despite having just met you…
