Emily Layden: “Consistency Is the Key”

The only way to get better at writing is just by writing

--

Wake Up and Write is an advice column from Moms Don’t Have Time to Write. Today, we have Emily Layden — writer and author of All Girls— who shared writing advice on the podcast Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books, hosted by Zibby Owens.

“I’m an athlete. I’m a runner. Just as the only way to be good at running is to do it, consistency is the key.”

“I feel that way about writing too, that the only way to get better at writing is just by writing. I would add that in running, rest days are important as well. I think that in writing, the same is true. It is important to take time away from the project semi-regularly to give yourself space just to rest.”
