Wake Up and Write is a regular advice column from Moms Don’t Have Time to Write. Today, we have David Rubenstein — host of The David Rubenstein Show and the author of How to Lead— who shared writing advice on the podcast Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books, hosted by Zibby Owens.

“Remember that it takes a while to get your rhythm.”

“Write about something you know, something that you enjoy. If it’s not something you enjoy or know, it’s going to be a lot more challenging.

It doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a year or two or longer to write a book. Nobody wrote a great book in three weeks. It takes a long time. It can be frustrating. At many times, you might say ‘I’m not going to do this. I’m just going to quit. I’m not going to write this book anymore.’

You just have to persist, persist, persist.”
