We are actively soliciting submissions! Email us at submit@monadnockunderground.com with a pitch or a completed draft. A few quick and easy rules:

  • We accept essays, creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry of any length (we’ve never understood why online publications would limit writers on word count).
  • Preference will be given to writing related to spirituality, mysticism, myth, consciousness, the meaning of life, and the nature of the present moment.
  • Preference will be given to works with local relevance.
  • We will publish poetry, but proportionately much less poetry than other forms of writing. Fair warning — most poetry submissions will be rejected solely for this reason.
  • Submitting book or film reviews, interviews, and political commentary is not encouraged — but if you’ve got something that’s good and it fits, we won’t say no. But fair warning here, as well.

If your work is accepted, you’ll be contacted by an editor to work through an efficient, collaborative editing process. You will also need to create a Medium account so that we can publish your work under your own name.

Authors retain all rights to work published online at Monadnock Underground and, though we prefer our offerings to be exclusive, authors are free to republish their work elsewhere.
