Bernard Garo was born in Geneva in 1964; Graduate of the Lausanne Art School (ECAL), he lives and works between Nyon and Paris. He now has almost 30 years behind him of a multiple creative commitment to the artistic scene, since completing the fine Arts School of Lausanne in 1989, where he was awarded the prize for painting.
The artist has been awarded several grants for research and has been prizewinner of several contests, winning notably the artistic prize of the town of Nyon in 1994, as well as that of the international contest for the artistic animation of the Bessières station on the new metro in Lausanne in 2006.
Visual artist, twice finalist for the Fems prize in 1999 and 2011, he devotes himself principally to painting and photography, whilst exploring other paths, such as installations in situ, intervention in architecture, expression using textiles, engraving and interdisciplinar performances.
He has mounted more than a hundred exhibitions over Europe and in Switzerland since 1989. Parallel with these, he has put on several interdisciplinary productions, among others, with the collective Dernière Tangente, which he founded in 1999.
