What is your portkey

For those of us unfamiliar with the wizarding world of Harry Potter, here’s what a portkey means: A portkey is a common item that has been enchanted to be used to transport anyone touching it to another pre-determined location.

I do not know the spell to transform your shoe into a portkey that would send you off on a vacation where you can pretend that your problems don’t exist. But I do know that even without moving a single inch there are ways to transform how you perceive the world around you.

For some people, music is their portkey. They play their favourite number and their mind, body and mood instantly feel transformed.

For some of you, it could be meditation, exercising (or stretching), or playing with your pets, adult colouring, cleaning, cooking, gardening, among many other things. The thing with portkeys is that they need to be unique to you. Your portkey needs to transport you to a time and space where you are able to view your situation with a slightly new and empowering perspective.

We are all mostly equipped with the power to solve our own problems. We just can’t see them when we are feeling beaten down by those very problems. In times like these, use your portkey.
