Do you feel comfortable?
Comfort is a safe zone of familiar activities or places. It is comfortable because we are already accustomed with it, we know what to expect if we do certain activities. Which makes comfort is predictable. Predictability is something that makes us feel protected. Protection is the ultimate feeling of ease.
No doubt that comfort is nice. But moving forward, improving an area in your life, or changing a situation requires us to step out of our comfort, out of our expectation. It requires us to step into new fields where we have never walked before. New is always intimating because we don’t know where we are walking. We don’t what comes our way by taking a new route. This can only be answered when new steps are taken.
Saying that, comfort must be balanced with discomfort to move forward in life. Just being comfortable hardly moves us further, whereas only being uncomfortable may create too much confusion and directionless. The two must accompany each other. Which one leads depends on the time of your life, and exactly where you stand and what are you trying to achieve.
If you feel that you are too uncomfortable take the step into new and make yourself feel out of place, not in your safe place. Many goods things are behind the border of comfort. However, if you feel you have been exploring a little too much, take a step back and put your focus into one or two areas the most, as otherwise you are just wondering about and not actually moving forward.
