What really happens if you save money? What does neuroscience say.

We all know that we should save money, some of us do it, some of don’t, and some are trying to do it. I will not talk about whether you should save money or not. Instead, I will talk about the aspect of what really happens if you save money? What our brain thinks about off the saving stuff we put it through when it comes to saving money, and what does neuroscience say about this.

Obviously, saving gives us material security. We have some assets to back things up if life happens. Which is great, we all want that. However, we don’t talk nearly enough of how our brain reacts when we save money.

Neuroscience says, based on various studies, that those who save a generally more hopeful, optimistic, calm and confident. Understandably the brain likes it as well. Saving money makes you feel better because, it helps us face the unknown, gives us peace of mind, makes us feel proud, and gives us independence. You feel as you have accomplished something good, and rightly so you should feel proud and happy. But the thing is, our brain evolved long time ago, when resources were scarce, and the main purpose was simply to survive. If you saw food, you would eat it instantly, because it might be gone later. Therefore, we are wired to look for instant results, making long-term financial planning against our nature. However, if you get pass the phycological urge to use everything the second you have it, it instantly gives you sense of security. Because you eliminate the natural worry, we have within ourselves to find resources. You don’t have to think about resources when you have saved for the unknown. This way you get ahead of your brain, and already give it what it wants. You eliminate the need for resources, by saving money. That is the time when you feel hopeful, optimistic, calm, and confident. Similarly, when you are constantly on the hunt, your brain is unable to take a break. When you have nothing to spare, you feel anxious, on edge and even stressed, because you are naturally wired to find resources, you know you need food and shelter and until you have those you are not able to ease your mind.
