What is the difference between a “late night” or an “early morning”?

On the one hand, it could have been a “late night” for me tonight if I had been working till 2:26 AM; on the other hand, it could be an “early morning” if I had woken up at this time of day (or night) to get some work done.

But for tonight I am going to call it a “LATE MORNING”. Why? Because I have a date set up with my girlfriend this afternoon whom I have not seen in almost two weeks and time cannot move any slower!

So, at this awkward hour of day (or night), I conclude my night and resume my day in saying that time is late.
