TOA Berlin: Will technology save advertising?

During the summer I had the pleasure to speak at Tech Open Air Berlin about the current challenges of the advertising world, and how I think frontier technology can be a solution.

I highlighted 3 issues with adtech today:

  1. Intrusiveness: we have become blind to ads, so to capture your attention, advertisers have little options. Immersive tech like VR and AR could change this for the better.
  2. Irrelevance: we we hate isn’t advertising per say, it’s irrelevant advertising. If you give up your privacy, AI could soon solve that.
  3. Fraud: in 2016 alone, advertisers have been defrauded by $7B by bots, fake impressions etc. I explore the idea that blockchain could be a solution to this problem.
