Examples, Ideas, and How to Get Thousands of Trailer Views
I recently heard on a book marketing podcast that book trailers aren’t worth it to help sell your new book. The reasoning? Video is too different of a medium compared to a book. People watching videos aren’t looking to read a book. They’re a waste of time.
I think there’s a different reason. Most book trailers suck. Just ask this FatedTitan on Reddit:
They don’t have to suck and they absolutely can work. Book trailers can inspire users to take action and purchase their potential next favorite book.
After all, many people go to YouTube and TikTok to find book recommendations—video is clearly an influential medium. (Go search #BookTok and you’ll see what I mean!)
You can and should also post your trailer on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and even in Medium articles. I made a 1-minute version of my new trailer so I could also post it on TikTok.
