It’s been a vague term thrown around by long-time crypto fanatics and now the mainstream media—thanks to Facebook changing their name to Meta.

Or maybe you’ve heard of the digital artist Beeple?

If not, then you’ll be surprised to learn that he sold a collage of his digital artwork through the world-famous Christie’s auction house—the first-of-its-kind digital art sale—for $69.3 million in early 2021.

At the time, Beeple’s Everydays: The First 5000 Days, was the highest amount an individual piece of NFT art sold for.

Well—that is—until NFT artist Pak sold his artwork titled The Merge on Nifty Gateway later in the year for $91.8 million.
