CryptoKitties. CryptoPunks. Bored Apes Yacht Club.

These are all notable names in the NFT universe.

But I predict the next big use case for NFTs (non-fungible tokens) on the blockchain will be poetry.

For poetry, it all started in the early 2010s, when a wave of poets found their popularity on the social photo-sharing app, Instagram.

These poets have been referred to as Instapoets.

Until recently, the only way for a poet or Instapoet to capitalize on their growing fanbase was to write, publish and sell books.

And if those poets didn’t sign a publishing deal with a major publisher, they had to self-promote and market the crap out of their books.

And the self-publishing world is a vicious arena to step into.

Rupi Kaur and Lang Leav are the most popular poets in the last ten years, emerging from the Instapoetry era.

Both poets fared well in selling their poetry books to the masses. But they did a lot of that with the help of their publisher, Andrews McMeel Publishing.
