Time kills deals. Time kills recruitment deals absolutely.

Tick tock, tick tock… gone. That’s the sound of your preferred candidate being snapped up by one of your competitors. Ironically you were their preferred option too. So how did this happen?

Time is the most underrated aspect of the recruitment process. We get it: recruitment can be a real slog and won’t always be uppermost in your mind. But you can be sure it’s a top priority for your in-flight candidates. They are likely to be highly emotionally invested, continually replaying all interactions to date and mulling things over with their nearest and dearest.

This candidate thought process needs to be nurtured like a seedling. Time is the lifeblood of the recruitment process. Momentum is a powerful thing and can make the difference between getting someone over the line or otherwise.

You’re not doing anybody a favour by simply having a vacancy. Unless you’re a Colossus of a brand, where candidate attraction takes care of itself, then humility rather than institutional arrogance is the key. Interestingly enough there is often a correlation between institutional arrogance and onerousness of the application, interview and on-boarding process.

Many recruitment processes are tedious. A nimble and responsive recruitment process will therefore keep your opportunity at the forefront of a candidate’s mind. It’s also a powerful window into your company’s culture i.e. a tedious interview process suggests a future pay rise or promotion conversation might prove equally so.

Chequered flag.

In today’s white-hot market the demand for niche technical skills is fiercer than ever. Here at Mongoose Gray we endeavour to keep you ahead of the competition. We go the extra mile, often oiling the wheels of the recruitment process outside of core office hours which puts our clients in pole position the next working day.

A-list candidates invariably have options. They can pick and choose. Small details make all the difference. Most importantly of all they will remember how you made them feel during the recruitment process.

We work hard to portray your business and opportunity in the very best possible light. We work hard to excite and seduce candidates.

Yes, recruitment is a seduction business. And you have an essential Casanova role to play too.

A poor candidate experience chips away and eventually will push someone into self-preservation mode whereby they start to consider why they should not take your job.

A poor candidate experience also damages your reputation in the market. Candidates talk. Good candidates talk a lot. Word soon gets around. Selfishly they also damage our reputation, something we work steadfastly to build and protect.

It’s time-consuming enough, albeit sacrosanct, to keep candidates engaged and up-to-date at each step of the process. It doesn’t pay to jeopardise things with unnecessary delays. We’d much rather spend the time sourcing awesome candidates for you.

In short, time is everything. Isn’t it time you gave us a call? Dial +44 (0) 203 701 1217.
