There are two sides to each story, automation can be taken as a threat by the employee’s especially in this “automation apocalypse,” humans don’t stand a chance against the robots or computers that do similar work. The employee’s fear that all their basic jobs that are now being done by robots are in major trouble. It may seem to them like only the Managers and seniors are the ones with experience and extraordinary abilities will keep their jobs.

Automation is feared by the kind of employees who are

  1. Technologically challenged employee’s may find it hard to cope with the demanding knowledge it requires.
  2. Lazy to take the effort to learn a new program and change their routine.
  3. Unwilling to switch to a better and improved software that actually will only make their job easier.
  4. The comfort of automation is not understood by the employee’s therefore they refuse to accept it and co-operate.

A lot of negative things have been said about automation at work in the recent days due to the problem of uncertainty. But, a recent survey done in some countries which involves about 3,000 employee’s opinion — says that the employees are NOT afraid of automation. In fact, the employee’s are waiting to see more of it come up in the near future.

Yes, automation does kill jobs no doubt about that but it also creates other opportunities for the employees to shine in. Not everything can be done through automation, human skill set is defiantly required in one or the other aspect. Automation helps the employee’s to make more time for other important jobs and not waste hours doing a simple entry that can be done in seconds by automation.

As surprising as this seems to many people that automation is preferred rather than feared by most of the employees, it is the truth. Automation is looked at as a means of making their tasks easier to manage and complete on time. With the workplaces becoming more demanding than ever the employee’s are interested in automation and their updated versions.

The employees claim that automation gives them more time to focus on their work, and why not? Automation takes care of all of the simple work that employee’s spend hours on every day. Therefore, it looks like automation is more a HERO than a villain to the employees.
