The short ‘real’ history

MidJourney — Saint Valentine holding his own head.

In the lead-up to Valentine’s Day, the day of love celebrated worldwide on February 14th, Monk Collective delves into the intriguing and inspiring story of the man behind this day: Valentine of Interamna.

This remarkable man from the third century, who lived in what is now Terni, Italy, is about more than flowers and cards. His life, marked by devotion to faith and performing miracles, including the healing of a boy with severe health issues, captures the imagination.

Valentine’s determination to stand by his beliefs, even under the severest pressure from the Roman administration, ultimately led to his execution. His story is not just a testament to unconditional love and faith but also to courage and sacrifice. It shows how Valentine’s life and his acts of charity laid the foundation for one of the most celebrated days.

The faith of one, can be meaningful to another.
