A Piece of Thailand Nestled Within Singapore
Follow us as we wandered into the dusty streets of Bangkok, or at least that’s what it felt like to us.
In reality, it was actually a homely Thai restaurant on the outskirts of the Central Business District in downtown Singapore.
Follow us as we wandered into the dusty streets of Bangkok, or at least that’s what it felt like to us.
In reality, it was actually a homely Thai restaurant on the outskirts of the Central Business District in downtown Singapore.
With a generous spread of authentic Thai food lay out before us we definitely went home with bloated tummies!
As we strolled through the sliding doors and into the lively chatter of the restaurant within, we were welcomed by the sight of a Bangkok tuk tuk at the entrance leading into the brightly lit restaurant.
We kicked off the night with some Thai street food favourites such as the Boat noodles (SGD 8.80) simmering within a fragrant beef broth often found along the busy canals of Bangkok.
We enjoyed this along side the renown Thai Stir Fried Mama Noodle (SGD 9) or also known as the Thailand version of instant noodles which opened the floodgates to fond childhood memories.
We paired this with crispy Boneless Stuffed Chicken Wing (SGD 9) often enjoyed with a refreshing drink amongst a symphony of crunches as we sank our teeth into the juicy meat.
The Crab Meat Omelette (SGD 13) was an absolute generous portion with fluffy edges fried to a golden unctuous perfection which complimented the tender Deep Fried Pork with Garlic (SGD 10) perfectly.
Joining the feast was some fragrant Stir Fried Seafood with Curry (SGD 17) which was pretty authentic and not often found in Singapore.
Unlike the Singapore curries which are often drinkable, the stir fried curry is a little clumpy in texture due to the eggs they are fried with but fried with aromatic herbs with a douse of turmeric.
We washed the meal down with a slightly spicy Seafood Tom Yam Soup which was a touch sour served in a bubbling hot pot sending us returning hungry for more.
Last but not least, no meal in a Thai Restaurant is complete without Mango Sticky Rice served with coconut milk on the side which we flooded the fragrant jasmine rice with.
