Food Delivery Review : Coliseum Cafe

Hainanese Chicken Chop (RM 26.39)

A Gastronomical Journey Through Memory Lane. Situated in one of the vibrant city malls of Kuala Lumpur is a cafe rich in heritage and established since the early 90’s. Due to the raging pandemic, I could only admire their beautiful interior and rustic atmosphere from photos. But how do they fare in a delivery service? I placed the order via a third party app which was pretty straight forward and the meal arrived in pretty standard take-away boxes.

This is a dish which ignites fond memories and one that is greeted with much anticipation during my family reunions especially during Chinese New Year. It it shared amongst loved ones and with much laughter. A very fitting dish for a cafe with a deeply rooted heritage.

Despite enduring the difficulties of a delivery service, the chicken chop arrived looking a beautiful golden brown with an extremely fragrant aroma seducing the diner’s taste buds as I peeled away the cover of the take away box. The pork chop was encrusted within crusty and crunchy breadcrumbs emitting a symphony of crackling as I sliced it bite-sized. The meat was tender and juicy within, topped with a tomato based sauce with onions and mushrooms which gave the dish a hint of sweetness. The dish was complete with a sea of crunchy green peas and garden fresh salad with a downpour of chips. It was like embarking on a gastronomical journey through memory lane.
