The Morning Catch Seafood
Our discovery of The Morning Catch Seafood took us back to the heart of China where the faint smell of seafood alongside the melodious sound of bubbly aquariums filled with live sea creatures greet patrons.
The restaurant is helmed by Chef and owner Desmond with his wife from China explaining the mouth watering Malaysian and China inspired dishes.
They began from a humble 3 tables at Tai Sing with most customers originating from the word of mouth of regulars.
Desmond’s wife shared that the name “The Morning Catch” came from the fond memory of her husband going to the fresh market every morning to purchase his fresh seafood for the day.
On May 1 2024, they moved their operations to Kinex as envious neighbours had grumbled about the fish tanks at the entrance of their restaurant hence the couple had no choice but to split the restaurant and wholesale seafood business.
They shared that their biggest challenge initially was the maintenance of the marine creatures.
“We even lost 1000 over fishes overnight due to incorrect salinity of the water. We resorted to tasting the water to ensure the environment within the aquarium was optimal for the fishes.”
In addition to dishing out mouth watering dishes, they also have 5 huge VIP rooms with its biggest being able to host up to 22 people with a KTV system, Majong Table and even a Tea Tasting Table within the room.
Although they do not charge for booking of these rooms, each room has varying minimum spendings.
All in all, with the fusion of both Malaysian and China styles of cooking into fresh seafood and meats, what more could one ask for?
