The Road To Success Is Always Under Construction
Tucked deep within the peak of Derbyshire lies the old Mam Tor.
An old highway (A625) which was built in 1819 but under went countless construction works for 160 years till it was eventually abandoned in 1979 due to constant landslides.
Today, the road is closed to vehicular traffic and is known as Broken Road.
The only traffic it ever sees these days are the local sheep which graze nearby.
The steepest parts of the road have gradients pushing past 10% and is pretty much broken into little ribbons of tarmac.
If you ever visit, do take note how thick the tar is in many places due to the amount of road work its has seen over the years!
