What is the Identity API?
Identity API is a new addition to our API suite that enables businesses and developers across Nigeria retrieve Users’ identities by accessing information on file with their financial institution.
With your User’s consent, you can access their phone number, dob, email address, gender, marital status, photo ID and much more.
This means you can build smarter, secured and personalised products.
Some use cases
Verify user identities using bank data
Retrieve names, dob, phone numbers, addresses, and emails for individual and corporate accounts — data can be used to complement KYC procedures
Personalise forms for onboarding
Auto-fill forms with identity data when users link their bank accounts

How does it work?
- Get consent
The User gives consent for you to access their financial data - User authenticates with their bank
The User is presented with Mono connect widget to authenticate - Send a request to the identity API
You send us an API request for the data you need to access. - Mono fetches real-time data
We fetch the data and produce insights about their identity.
