Be A Monster In Our Alley!
Breaking the rules to begin anew
We’re going back to basics. The Alley is breaking its old rules and starting over. Want to be a writer? Fantastic! Here are the basic rules now:
- Follow Medium’s rules — no exceptions.
- All pictures must have a credit source in the caption.
- No crypto or finance.
- No bulk tagging people.
- No AI. Assisted may be accepted on a case basis.
- Have at least one article published already. Self-published is fine.
Aside from that, most everything else is fair game now. Nearly any topic is acceptable (within reason). We are a newbie-friendly pub! Still learning how to craft an article on Medium? No problem! If you want to make your article look good, here are some general suggestions:
- Title case your titles, and format your subtitles (the little ‘T’).
- Use formatting “properly.”
- Include a picture below the title and subtitle.
- Ask for help or tips on our Discord Server.
Plenty of other suggestions exist to make good writing, but you‘re not here for that. You came to be a writer. So, how does one do that?
Be A Writer
The fastest way is to join the Monster Alley Discord Server. We’ve got a “new writers” channel specifically for new writers. Clever, huh? You can also comment on this article, but it’ll probably take longer for me to see.
Please the word “brick” used somewhere, somehow, in the same message, whichever method you use, so I know you’re serious about writing for us.
Once you’re added, you can submit stories to us through the draft app:
- Use the “…” menu and select “Add to publication.”
- If you’re a Monster Alley writer, the publication name will show up in that list. Select it, remember to click “select and continue.”
- The green “Publish” button will change to “Submit.” After that, it’s basically the same as publishing an article yourself.
