Video may have killed the radio star, but we’re still listening away to all kinds of media. The ever-popular audiobook is evidence that audible storytelling is alive and well. So, why not have a radio station for that kind of thing?
Well, that’s what I was thinking when I set up Monster Alley Radio.
For now, it’s set to replay my one track from yesterday ad nauseum. That’s going to get old real fast. However, at this stage it serves as a great proof-of-concept that creating a radio station isn’t all that hard. Or, at least, it can be muddled through within a couple of days.
The headaches found along the way are easily smoothed out by having a bigger budget. My “free” option proved to not be as simple as I’d hoped. So, I made do with the next cheapest option. For less than $10/month, I’m the proud owner of a shoutcast. Whatever that is.
The whole ordeal seems very technical, but that might be the lack of funding talking. Those higher-tier options might grant better interfaces and easier point-and-click workflows.
