How To Import Your Articles To Substack In Four Steps

“Grow your newsletter.”

That was the first message I learned when joining Medium years ago. The writers who took me under their wing loved it here. Their enthusiasm was infectious. They had no intention of leaving, either. But early on, they told me it was a bad idea to get comfortable posting on just one platform. For a writer to grow, they have to expand. Go to where the readers are.

Some readers cross over from Medium to Substack, and the platforms complement each other quite well. It’s fairly common to cross-post between the two. It’s no wonder Substack has a nifty “Import” feature to help out the expanding online writer.

I’ve simplified the guide in my own words. Feel free to check out the original how-to on Substack.

Step #1: Have articles to migrate.

Step #2: Navigate to Settings; choose Import (near the bottom).
