Meet Montrose — Sebastian Kucharzyk
Name? Sebastian Kucharzyk
Position? Software Developer
Favourite Quote? “You have to be a bit of a liar to tell a story the right way.”
What do you do at Montrose? I used to be a software developer responsible for developing applications in C++ language. Things have changed now and I’m part of the R&D team. We work on bringing cutting edge technologies to one of our clients — Royal Bank of Canada.
What superpower do you bring to the team? Helpfulness. I always do my best to give people my help whenever they ask for it, even if it requires me to stay after hours or take a call from home. I believe that when you help people, then people will help you when you need it.
What gets you out of bed and into the office each morning? Programming is an everyday challenge. You never know what problems you will face or what pathways you will need to pave. This feeling of the unknown is the very best motivator to get out of bed (actually, maybe the smell of the breakfast is better).
What direction did you take to get here? I was a student of computer science at the time. I developed a couple of homemade projects and decided to take a step forward — get the commercial experience. I found Montrose Software’s ad of an intern job on the Internet, and it seemed to be a perfect fit for me — interesting project, impressive achievements in the industry, and great benefits for employees. I applied a resume, joined the team, and stayed for longer.
If you had Bill Gates’ money, what would you spend it on? I would love to waste that money for the most ridiculous thing I can ever imagine, like designing my own self-driving electrical car, naming it after some famous physicist, and sending it right into outer space. Oh, wait…
What is life outside of Montrose like? I really enjoy time spent in nature. Brisk morning in the forest, hip-deep grass, cold drizzle — all that makes a perfect place to rest!
