Axelar is dedicated to providing scaled cross-chain interoperability across all blockchains, including the Polkadot ecosystem. Through the Axelar universal cross-chain communication gateway, applications on the Moonbeam network will be able to compose with applications on Ethereum, Avalanche, Polygon and other chains. In this post we’ll go over a step-by-step guide on how to use Axelar’s Satellite to bridge ATOM from the Cosmos network to Moonbeam.

Step 1: Check your ATOM balance

Ensure that you have enough ATOM in your Keplr wallet to cover gas fees, since you will need to transfer your ATOM from the COSMOS network.

Step 2: Open Satellite

Navigate to Axelar’s Satellite App.

Step 3: Select ATOM to send from Cosmos to Moonbeam

Select Cosmoshub as the Source Chain and Moonbeam as the Destination Chain.

Step 4: Connect your Metamask wallet.

Step 5: Initiate Transfer

Enter your Moonbeam address manually or autofill it, make sure that the address is correct and click on Initiate Transfer button.

Step 6. Send ATOM.

Once you initiate the transfer process, the app will generate a one-time deposit address to deposit your ATOM to. Another option is to connect Keplr wallet to fill in automatically (Recommended) by clicking on the connect Keplr button.

Step 7. Enter Amount and Deposit.

Enter the desired deposit amount (must be higher than 0.15), and click Send.

Step 8: Approve Transaction in Keplr.

Step 9: Wait for Transaction to Complete

Check the status of the transaction. It usually takes around 1 to 5 minutes to complete.

Step 10: Done!

Congratulations, you have completed the bridging process.

Step 11. Check your ATOM balance in Metamask

You can check your ATOM balance on Moonbeam by adding its contract address to Metamask. Just click on the Add to Metamask button here.

Step 12. Your ATOM is now transferred to Moonbeam and is ready to use.

And that’s it! Congratulations! Now you have successfully transferred ATOM from Cosmos to the Moonbeam network.
