The Lost Artifact Part I

The full moon in April was pink. It hung in its usual place in the sky like a round beacon, and yet…something was not right. In the north, the pink flowers of spring had yet to bloom. The tide was restless, its rhythm disrupted. Who could restore the balance?

Far south in the jungle, the never-sleeping dragon paced, punctuating the duty of his guard over The Artifact. It was the prize of the people, The Artifact, a valuable treasure they required to transcend their reality and reach the heavens above. It had been stolen long ago and thought lost for all eternity, sentencing its would-be-protectors to a meager mortal, earthly existence.

The prize was secure in the place where the Sungod had placed it for safekeeping. He was a collector of beautiful things, hoarding them for his pleasure. The greedy Sungod wanted to shine brighter than the future, even at the cost of the people.
